God’s Word tells us that every person on this earth is responsible to know there is a powerful God who created the universe because its design gives evidence to Him.
Romans 1:19–20 (ESV) says, “For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.”
Yet, non-theistic evolution is taught as an alternative explanation of the existence of the universe instead of God as the creator. Evolution teaches random variations in the genetic makeup of single-celled organisms, guided by the survival of the fittest, provided the increasing complexity of the universe over very long periods of time. As we discover the increasing complexity the time required increases due to the extremely small mathematical chance of it all happening.
However, even a small observation of the universe reveals design, and therefore, a Designer. If you walked along the beach an found a working radio half buried in the sand, you would conclude that some one accidently dropped this radio which they purchased from the company which produced it. You would not surmise that the wind and water currents had arranged the grains of sand in such a way as to accidently assemble this radio. This is a small electrical device designed by someone for the purpose of communicating intelligible information.
On my first trip to Russia my wife and I accompanied a Russian English teacher to her home for dinner. On the long drive our conversation came to be about God. She said to us, “We were raised and educated in an enforced atheistic country. We were told there is no God. But all you have to do is look up at the stars at night and everybody know inside their own mind that there is a God who created all this.”
My Russian hostess was admitting the visible evidence of an Intelligent Designer easily overcame all of the indoctrination of an atheistic country which enforced their view under the threat of death. So strong was the visible evidence in the evening sky!
The evidence is also irrefutable when looking through the telescope or the microscope. Discovering the complexity and function of the DNA code has even changed the minds of some evolutionary scientists.
This is exactly what God’s Word describes. Every part of the universe shows order and useful arrangement, which, in turn, give evidence to an Intelligent Designer who arranged and ordered this intricacy for a working purpose. And, just like the radio in the sand, the order and design of the universe gives evidence of God who created it.
