Course Introduction

Thank you for joining me today in this course. We are going to study the most important subject of the Bible, how to get to heaven. The Bible is very clear about that, but there’s lots of confusion in our world today. So it’s important that we understand the clear teaching of the Bible. Part of the reason there’s lots of confusion is that Satan wants to lie to us about this important issue. Jesus told us that Satan is a deceiver. In John 8:44, Jesus said, he was talking to the spiritual leaders of the day who were rejecting him. “You are of your father, the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character for he is a liar and the father of lies.”

So Satan comes to the person who has not put their faith in Jesus Christ, is not on their way to heaven. Satan wants to tell them over and over again, in as many ways as he can, you have to be a really good person to get to Heaven. That’s his lie. By that lie, he makes them focus on works, trying to work their way to Heaven. Now as we’re going to see the Bible teaches that our own works have nothing to do with getting us to heaven. That is a lie. The Bible teaches us that people need to believe in Jesus Christ for eternal life in order to get to Heaven. Not only it’s important that we understand that for ourselves and we know that we have put our faith in Christ so that we’re on our way to Heaven. It’s also important that we can accurately and clearly communicate that to other people because they are literally dying spiritually for eternity to hear that important message.

And so we’re going to, as part of this course clarify things about getting to Heaven. How did God make that possible? And why do people, some people choose to go to Heaven, some do not, and how to clearly communicate it to them. I trust that this course will be very helpful to you. Thank you.
